Are Mammograms Obsolete?

For many years now Western Medicine promoters have advocated annual mammograms. In fact, I received my first mammogram at the age of 27! Why. . , because my mother was just diagnosis with late-stage breast cancer.  So out of fear, overwhelm and with the urging of the medical professionals I complied.

My breast was placed into something that looked like a medieval torture device, a cold metal vice-like machine that flattens without mercy and yes, I do have scar tissue in my right breast to prove it.  So that’s was 28 years of exposure to dangerous radiation that may actually increase the risk of cancer!

For what? The overwhelming evidence shows that mammograms do very little to prevent cancer deaths. Mammograms can only find tumors that have already grown and reached a certain size.  Then to identify cancer, the tumor must be biopsied. By that time, it’s often too late to treat successfully because the tumor is not the cause, but the effect. So much for early detection!

Well, this is not about dome and gloom, there is something available that is safe, painless, non-invasive test that detects the possibility of cancer years earlier than a mammogram.  The test is called Breast Thermography, the taking of infrared photos of your breasts.

It works on the theory that when cells start to mutate and turn cancerous, the surrounding tissues start to create new blood vessels.  This is called neo-angiogenesis.  All the blood-flow activity produces additional heat in the area.  And this heat is detected using infrared photography finding “hot spots” and identifying possible cancer activity early, in fact, 10-12 years before a tumor in detectable with a mammogram!

There are also other non-invasive procedures, ultrasound, and sonogram especially needed for dense breast tissue, but again these will detect only if a tumor is present.

Now, in my opinion, Thermography is a positive step not only detecting but preventing breast cancer. Each of us must make our own decision let’s make it an informed one.

Are mammograms obsolete? One size doesn’t fit all. Sometimes the combination of the above procedures works best. ~
